Girl, 8 drowns in a swimming pool in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya: A girl aged eight drowned as she swam at a swimming pool in Garden Estate, Nairobi.
Irene Kasiva was with her friends and relatives at the swimming pool at Oak Place Hotel for an afternoon session on Saturday when the incident happened.
Police say she was detected by her colleagues after she failed to respond at about 6.30 pm. She was later attended to by pool attendants before being rushed to Getrude Children Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Starehe OCPD Bernard Nyakwaka said they are investigating the incident to know what happened.
"Witnesses say she started gasping for oxygen before she drowned. We are talking to the management of the hotel to know what happened," said Nyakwaka.
