Mystery deepens as another family claims Meshack Yebei’s body

Eldoret, Kenya: Mystery deepened Wednesday after a family from Nandi County claimed Meshack Yebei’s body belongs to their missing kin.

The family, which converged at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, said their kin went missing after Christmas.

The body which is now under controversy was found floating in River Yala bridge on Kisumu-Eldoret road near Kapsabet Town in Nandi County.

Yebei’s family identified the body as that of their kin who went missing on December 28, 2014.

According to the family, Yebei excused himself from a dispensary at Turbo to buy water for the sick child but never returned.

They added that Yebei had reported to the police that his life was in danger over a year before his mutilated body was recovered.

The deceased was allegedly a witness at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Deputy President William Ruto’s lawyer, Karim Khan, claims Yebei was a crucial defence witness but ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda says he could not be included in the final witness list because he was found to have attempted to corrupt prosecution witnesses.
