Rugby club fined after player pees on the pitch

New Zealand Warriors prop Russell Packer has apologised after he was caught urinating on the pitch at the Suncorp Stadium during a game on Monday. Packer was caught on camera weeing on the turf during the first half of the NRL clash with the Brisbane Broncos.

After images of Packer having tinkle were shown on TV, the NRL moved quickly hitting the star’s club with a $15,000 (Sh1.2m) fine.

NRL general manager Nathan McGuirk said: “This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable and there is no excuse for it.”

Packer later took to Twitter to apologise.

“Hey guys just a quick apology to you and your family regarding my accident last night it has offended some which I am sorry,” he wrote.

It is not the first time an incident such as this has happened when these two sides have met. In 1998 Don McKinnon let rip in an action he later described as his “had to go moment”.
