Nyamira to construct Sh470 million office block

Nyamira County residents continue to reap the benefits of the decentralised system of government as the county’s most ambitious project is scheduled for completion in 18 months.

The construction of Phase One of the county headquarters office block will kick off in July this year.

According to county officials, the office block will be a modern five level building estimated to cost about Sh470 million, which is currently at the tendering stage.

“Once this phase is complete it shall house the governor’s office and four county departments,” Eric Onchana Aori, the county secretary and head of the county public service told The Standard on Sunday.

The county also plans to put up a Doctor’s Plaza at the county hospital.

This is a three level facility that will host five consultant clinics, an emergency room, laboratory, pharmacy and a 60 bed ward, 20 of which shall be in private rooms,” Onchana said.

This county is growing rapidly. With a population of 632, 046 (males 303,252 and females 328,783), the county has its headquarters in Nyamira town.

Records indicate that the literacy level for the adult population — 15 years and above who can read and write — is 91.1 per cent.
