Man watches as muggers beat girlfriend

People were shocked when thugs strangled a woman and stole her purse while her boyfriend ignored her distress calls. The 7pm incident occurred in Runyenjes town.

According to a witness, the couple had just ended a heated argument in a hotel where they had been having a good time.

"They had been arguing in low tones but as the evening wore on, they started to raise their voices. All I could hear was Joshua and Liz. They were quarrelling," he recounted.

Nevertheless, a fight would have ensued were it not for the intervention of the bouncers who threatened to throw the couple out.

Nevertheless, the couple is reported to have walked out without having nibbled at their morsels. The patrons were shocked on seeing a stream of tears on Joshua’s eyes. It is even reported that some clients had booed Joshua and called him names for weeping.

no love

To save his face, Joshua dashed into the restroom to clean his face. By the time he emerged, his lover had walked out. When he emerged, a loud feminine scream pervaded the air. Other patrons responded but Joshua left.

He is said to have walked past his girlfriend as she continued to call his name.

"Joshua ndungindiga ava mbeti yakwa ikiagwa. Joshua you can’t just walk by as my purse is being snatched," the woman said amidst screams.

Unaffected by the plea, Joshua just walked past and retorted: "You have left your Joshua in the hotel." The remark made bystanders suspect he had broken up with his girlfriend. The robbers are said to have disappeared into a nearby maize plantation.

This area has been reported to have ruthless and daring thugs, also feared to carry illegal firearms.

"Although I doubt they have firearms, I cannot risk confronting them because these daredevils seem to know what they are doing. We have alerted the police but they have not apprehended them yet," says Njiru, a village elder.

Left with no option, Liz had to walk back to the gathered mob and beg for help.

"They have taken everything. Can someone please help me with bus fare to go home?" Liz pleaded with the strangers.

Following the incident, the hotel manager is reported to have cursed vehemently for the losses he incurred. Most of the patrons left and disappeared in the darkness without paying a cent.
