Kidum denies that he was detained by Canadian immigration

Mapenzi ya Fujo singer Kidum, who has been on a US and Canada tour for several months promoting his latest album Kimbia via his band’s spokesman, has disputed media claims that he was detained by Canadian immigration officials.

He was scheduled to jet back last week and perform at this month’s 38th Blankets and Wine festival, but apparently, a scuffle with his tour promoter over sharing the proceeds from his tour performances caused his travel documents to be confiscated.

Kidum’s band member and spokesman called the reports “unbased”.

Rapper Juliani has instead been placed to perform at this coming Sunday’s Blankets and Wine alongside Harry Kimani, Fena Gitu and newcomer Kombo.

No reason for his delay to travel back has been given yet, though the spokesman said the Burundi-born musician will arrive in the country on October 10.
