Popular Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone thrilled his Nairobi fans on Friday even as police officers sought him over alleged failure to honour contracts.

As soon as he arrived in Nairobi on Thursday, local promoters, who claimed the Valu Valu singer had run away with their cash in the past, launched a search with police seeking to arrest him.

It is the brave event organisers who cooled the situation and released Chameleone from his hideout shortly after midnight for the much anticipated performance in Nairobi West.

Chameleone didn’t disappoint. Manned by heavy security of over 10 guards, the award-winning star charmed the mammoth crowd with an energetic presentation.

Fans who had started grumbling after waiting for long sprang into action, dancing and singing along to his lyrics word by word of Chameleone’s popular songs.

The controversial Ugandan star performed for over one hour and even went ahead to sing songs out of the planned script as fans requested him to do their favourite numbers.

Kenyan sassy singer Avril joined Chameleone on stage and won the hearts of her followers with sexy dance displays and vocal appeals.

The event was attended by politicians and music stars among them Kigeugeu singer Jaguar.

It was the first visit Chameleone was making in Kenya in ten years, where he started his music career.

Even as the media tried to pin him down about his controversial “moon walking” Tanzania story, the singer steered off the sideshows and remained cheerful and jubilant.

He even opened up on matters about his family and showbiz rivalry with his arch rivals Bebe Cool and Bobby Wine.
