46-year-old campus student threatens to shoot cops over alcoblow

A businessman has been arrested for drunk driving and threatening to shoot a police officer along Thika road.

Jackson Mwangi Mutugi is said to have threatened the life of police officers on December 3 near Survey area, and resisting arrest after being asked to blow the breathalyzer from traffic officers.

The court heard that Mutugi slowed down before speeding off. He, however stopped after noticing a roadblock mounted with spikes. It was then that police approached a tipsy Mutugi who refused to blow the gadget and in the ensuing commotion whipped out a gun and threatened to kill anyone who dared touch him.

Mutugi denied the charges and was released on Sh80,000 bond. In his mitigation, he told the court that he was a university student and was sitting exams. The matter will be heard on April 4, 2017.
