Please help retrieve our son’s body, family pleads with State

The family of the teenager who drowned in River Migori has sent a passionate appeal to the Government to help them recover the body.

Carolyn Juma, Edick Otieno Juma's mother has also appealed to individual professional divers and disaster management, non-government organisations for assistance.

Saturday, search parties consisting of residents returned ashore empty handed after being overwhelmed by the strong currents. It is now feared that the body may have been washed into Lake Victoria.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church, Western Kenya Union Conference president, Pastor Kenneth Maena joined in mourning the youngsters.

"The SDA family is in mourning. We have lost two young souls who dedicated their lives in serving the Lord," he said in a statement.

Edick slipped and fell into the river on Thursday afternoon where he and Pathfinders clubs had gone to shower.
