As social media has proven, the fame often translates from the on-screen music video appearance to real life.

In Kenya, video vixens like Vera Sidika, Amina Amaru and Huddah Monroe have cultivated huge following over time – in some cases more followers than celebrity musicians.

While one cannot forever remain a video vixen, showing up in popular videos stands them a high chance of propelling their brands into fields like modeling, brand ambassadorships and perhaps music.

New kids on the music scene have been born this year. Impressively so, the new kids will be those whose musical careers just kicked off and have been steadily growing.

Impressively this lot of newcomers has a loyal following that did whatever it takes to keep the voting process vibrant:

Rankaddah and Naiboi of Tingika

Quite the lyrical genius, Rankaddah whose name means “top ranker” was fortunate to receive mentorship from Pacho Entertainment’s head –Rap Damu- and join the fast growing stable.

With Rap Damu transforming his brand to become Nai boi, he has overtime helped many artistes to revive and propel their careers to the next level.

With her real name being Tanasha Donna Barbieri Oketch, she is half-Kenyan, half-Italian. Born and raised in Kenya, Tanasha left for Europe at the age of 11.

At this time, she got the opportunities to be part of modelling agency during which her career took off. Capturing hearts in the music industry, Zahara’s main appearance was on Ali Kiba’s video Nagharamia

When Kagwe Mungai made headlines as one of Kenya’s hottest guys, fans and critics were all waiting to see the kind of ladies he would feature in his video and that is where Abigail Sessay showed up!

With quite the enviable physique, she ultimately put on a stellar performance in Kagwe Mungai’s video “Doctor” where she is seen as the lady who troubles his heart and eventually the two fall for each other.

Hilda Munene and Evelyne Wanjiru
