As the year comes to a close I take this time to reflect, to praise, to encourage, to correct and to take stock and share my lessons in all angles of my life, be it personal, political, economical , emotional and even spiritual.

Motherhood - I learned that you can never ever trust anybody; you alone can give your child the best as per your capability. Many will judge you, others think they can do a better job, others very insensitive; others simply don’t get it and don't get you. Listen to advice but only take those that grow you, not everyone's opinion is right

Relationships- Understand yourself, understand your partner, complement each other’s strength, be supportive always, criticize with love, be sensitive, be respectful... that way you will weather any storm, get through stuff and even better communication and intimacy between you two will immensely grow.

Leadership - it’s a calling, it’s a sacrifice, its more than passion, and it will challenge your outlook of life and belief in things, in systems and in people. It will lead you to new paths, crazy uncertain waters, very uncomfortable at times... But never be afraid of setting your boundaries or speaking your mind. You will be criticized, judged and even called names but it will teach you courage, fulfillment, determination, faith, and hope. So don't you ever give up, push on, surround yourself with mentors, a formidable support system and always believe in yourself

Family- I learned and reaffirmed that family is much more than blood. You know you have just a handful of your close and true friends who are loyal to the core but glad they love you and your child so deeply and you never for one day feel alone or unloved. I by nature came from a big extended family but in the last few years of my adult life I lost touch with a lot of them, some bit my fault some bit theirs and the other totally out of choice (no need to surrounded yourself with petty and those who cause you pain.)... my small circles of friends have been my family. If you lose touch with blood relations, don't be too hard on yourself. It is what it is. And life has to go on.

Friends - keep the loyal ones, better an open adversary than a pretentious friend. Cut off anyone who doesn't build you. Cut off all the negative persons, they are dangerous to your spirit and well-being. Don't water that which you don't want to grow. Give love and always make time for those who value and love you.

Health-Take care of your health, it is the engine that steers your life, remember a healthy body and mind is a key weapon. Very crucial for everyday living.

Spirituality- Daily feed this, never tire. A soul at peace is lethal artillery. Feed it. Grow it. Nurture it.

Finances- A step at a time, every individual has their story, their untold journeys and winding roads, do teach yourself to save, plan ahead, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don't be afraid to fail or fall. Spend if you must - I am still very poor at this but I have improved a lot.

Work-Passion will take you far, discipline will distinguish you and patience will reward you.

Education- Feed your mind it’s a whole universe yet to be fully explored. Read, learn something new. Feed your hobbies, you can never have enough knowledge

As we step out of 2016, think about these things.

Happy Holidays.
