Mandago must shun tribalism

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago should stop whipping up ethnic emotions over the appointment of Moi University Acting Vice Chancellor.

He needs to be reminded that none other than former President Moi picked Prof Laban Ayiro to head Sunshine School in Nairobi yet there were many qualified Kalenjin teachers he would have appointed. Prof Ayiro is credited for steering Sunshine School to become an academic giant. Mandago should realise that a public university is not a village property. Besides, the government should act on ethnic composition in universities, after all lecturers are not conducted in local languages but English.
