Kenya will face neighbours Tanzania in a do or die African Nations Championship pool match today (Friday) at 1 pm East African Time as they seek to advance to the quarterfinals of the continental volleyball showpiece.
Kenya are third in Group D after suffering their first loss in the competition at the hands of leaders Morocco 3-1(25-19, 21-25, 17-25, 21-25).
The result leaves the group more open with Kenya and Egypt set to battle for second place in their last matches.
Morocco are already through to the next phase after their two wins against Tanzania and Kenya.
Egypt - who beat Tanzania in straight have four points and need a win against Morocco to comfortably proceed to quarters.
The national volleyball team commonly referred to as Wafalme Stars has two points and must defeat Tanzania to stand a chance of going through to the quarterfinals and hoping Morocco beat Egypt.
Kenya made an impressive start to the African Nations Championship after flooring tournament favourites Egypt on Wednesday night.
However, for the Wafalme Stars to proceed to the next stage, they have to bring on their “A” game against Tanzania and pray Egypt to fall to the West Africans.
