MP advises DP William Ruto to mend fences with rivals in Rift

Some leaders in the Rift Valley have asked Deputy President William Ruto to mend fences with his political rivals in the region to ensure his presidential ambitions in 2022 are not derailed. Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ngeno said Mr Ruto needed to face the reality that Central region may not support him in 2022.

Mr Ngeno said Ruto had "buried his head in the sand for too long" in the belief that he would automatically take over the country's reins of power from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"The Deputy President should thank Kiambu Governor William Kabogo for letting the cat out early enough that support from Mt Kenya is not guaranteed. Anyone who knows the dynamics of the country's politics cannot dare dismiss such reality. The fact is, 2022 elections will be a different ball game," he said.
