Jose Mourinho's future remains up in the air

Manchester United last week made their first formal move to appoint Jose Mourinho as the club's next manager.

That's according to the Telegraph, who say the next few days will be key in the negotiations to take the Portuguese to Old Trafford.

It is claimed Mourinho is desperate to take the job but wants assurances about a number of issues before he signs a contract.

He wants there to be stability at the top end of the club, and also wants to be confirmed as manager as soon as the season finishes, rather than later in the summer.

This is so that he has as much time as possible to bed into the job and plan for next season.
