Van Gaal turns down job with Dutch FA

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has turned down the chance to become the KNVB's director of football.

But his decision to do so does not necessarily mean he will be staying on at Old Trafford beyond the end of this season, report the Manchester Evening News.

Van Gaal won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as Netherlands coach guiding them to third place at the finals. He returned from South America to officially take charge at United as David Moyes' successor on a three year deal.

While Van Gaal has had a fraught time in England the Netherlands have also suffered on the international stage since his departure for Old Trafford.

Danny Blind's side were shock fallers in the Euro 2016 qualifiers and won't be in France for the summer tournament.
