Tales abound of many prominent people who have kept mistresses or second wives in Nyayo. Two governors from Nyanza have second wives in the estate. Several top policemen also have mistresses residing in Nyayo.

Countless members of the National Assembly have also tucked away their love interests in the mammoth estate. An MP from Eastern Kenya recently drew his gun after guards refused to allow his car out of the estate because he didn’t have a resident’s sticker. Police officers from Embakasi Police Station saved the situation.

Real estate consultant, Amos Omondi, says that Nyayo Estate is one of the best estates to keep a mistress as the privacy is absolute and security tight. “It’s not one of those estates you find women seated outside theirdoors gossiping,” says Amos.

“It’s much cheaper to spend Sh30,000 here to house your mistress than pay Sh15,000 for a house in Buruburu that you can only visit under the cover of darkness,” he said. Here you can pop in anytime without fear of roving eyes
