Mwamba registered their second successive win after beating visiting Menengai Oilers 27-15 in a Kenya Cup match played at the RFUEA grounds yesterday.

Kulabu won through four tries, two conversions and a penalty against Oilers’ two tries, one conversion and a solitary penalty.

Mwamba stamped their authority early in the first half as Michael Agevi fended off his markers before dotting down but Tony Omondi failed to add the extras.

Mwamba then won a penalty deep in Oilers territory and they elected to kick the ball into touch. From the resultant line-out, loose forward Tony Owuor powered his way over the try line with Omondi converting from close range to hand his side a 12-0 lead.

Oilers, who were struggling to keep possession were punished as Omondi split the posts with a penalty to stretch Mwamba’s advantage.

Mwamba were temporarily reduced to 14 men after Owuor was sin-binned for an infringement.

In Kakamega, Kabras Sugar registered their fifth straight win in a row after ending Impala’s unbeaten run with a 42-10 win.

The millers took only 11 minutes to find sweetness in the Impala team scoring four tries to confirm a fifth bonus win in the league with Philip Wokorach starring. [Washington Onyango and Clement Wekulo]
