We have served notice — DP Ruto’s message after Kibra by-election

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday congratulated ODM’s Imran Okoth for his victory in the Kibra by-election but lauded Jubilee Party supporters in the area for their bravery.

He added that his team had served notice to Raila Odinga since Jubilee had doubled their vote in the area as compared to the 2017 election while ODM had lost popularity.

“Pongezi Benard Okoth for Kibra. Congrats Mariga, Team Jubilee & supporters for daring the so called 'bedroom', braving the chaos/violence, to double our vote from 12%(2017) to 26% now.

“Our competitors came down 78% (2017) to 52%. They retained the seat we have served notice,” he said.

Adding that the residents of Kibra had changed the politics of Kenya.

Ruto also poked fun at the Handshake Team that comprises some members of Jubilee Party who are seemingly against his 2022 bid saying Mariga’s performance had shamed them.

“You have changed the politics of, not just Kibra but Kenya. We are indebted.

“Thank you all our leaders and members for standing firm with Mariga our JUBILEE candidate.

“We have demonstrated unprecedented resolve in the face of many odds to proudly double our % presence in territory otherwise considered no-go & shaming those who betrayed our leader & party,” said Ruto.

Earlier, Mariga conceded defeat and promised Imran that he was ready to work with him in his bid to change the face of Kibra.
