SBM Bank win Turkey Cup at Nairobi Polo Club

In the second week of the 2023/2024 Nairobi Polo Club season, SMB Bank won two matches for a total of four points to lift the Turkey Cup on Boxing Day.

The team of Vishal Somaia, Natasha Tisminsiesky, Pius and Miranda Rojimn first defeated Tanqueray 3-0 before overcoming Tusker Malt by the same margin to romp home in style with maximum points in the three-team competition.

Pius, who alternated with Rojimn in the two chukka matches, scored a hat-trick for the winners Tanqueray. The first goal came in the first chukka while the rest were scored in the final chukka.

Tanqueray team comprised of Izzy Stichburry, Moses Wanjohi, Lochie Stichbury and Luniya Msuku.

In their second match, SMB Bank completed a 3-0 win over Tusker Malt, thanks to goals by Rojimn (two) and Tisminisesky.

Tusker Malt, whose members were Harry Stichbury, Fred Kambo, Josephine Gauld and Flo, lost their second match 2-0 to Tanqueray.

Lochie scored the double for the winners. As the teams take a one-week rest, they’ll converge for the Davis Cup slated for the same venue on January 6-7.
