Blue Ocean swimming club swimmers swum like sharks to dominate day one of the Coast level one swimming championship at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, yesterday.

Coached by Mohammed Ahmed, the swimmers shone in most of the junior events to remain on course to winning the overall title when the gala comes to an end today.

In boys 8/9 years 50m freestyle, Adil Ahmed  of Blue Ocean won with a time of 42.62 to top with seven points, while Vihaan Majitia of Bandari swimming club trained by former Kenyan international Fakry Mansoor came second with a time of 42.94. Aariz Noorani of Blue Ocean was third after registering a time of 43.09.

In boys’ five years and under 25m freestyle, Coast Academy’s Sami Muses won after clocking 34.05 while Blue Ocean’s duo of Haidarali Haniraza and Burhanuddin Hamid timed 35.53 and 35.77 respectively.

Andy Kadonde and Bevan Karuga both from Mombasa Parents swimming club timed 20.84 and 20.90 for the first and second positions respectively in the boys 6/7 years 25m freestyle. Aahil Bagha of Blue Ocean was third with a time of 21.32.

Mombasa Parents swimmer Katoo Matovu won the boys 10/11 years 50m freestyle with a time of 37.83 where Emmanuel Ongati of Aga Khan Academy was second with a time of 39.41. Richard Muthumbi of Kilifi’s Kivukoni Creek club clocked 40.21 for the third slot.

Zeeshan Imran of Coast Academy registered a time of 36.20 to emerge victorious in the boys’ 14/15 years 50m freestyle.
