Kariobangi Sharks bite Sofapaka to further away from relegation zone

Kariobangi Sharks on Friday moved further away from the relegation zone after defeating Sofapaka 2-0 in a FKF Premier League match played at Kasarani Annex.

Sigmunn Maina and Moses Shikanda second half goals handed William Muluya a breather as Sharks ended a five-match winless run.

Sharks who before the match had won their last match on January 23 against Bandari (1-0) has now moved to 11 in the standings with 20 points, 10 points away from the relegation zone.

Earlier on, their poor run has seen them drop to 13th in the standings with 17 points.

Sharks had lost two games against Nzoia Sugar (3-1) and Mathare United (2-1) before drawing in three match against Tusker (1-1), Bidco United (1-1) and AFC Leopards last weekend (0-0).

In the match, Maina opened the scores three minutes inside the second half before Shikanda sealed the win 15 minutes before full time.

Sofapaka drop to 13th on 18 points after the defeat.

On the other hand, Sofapaka will be hoping to end their two-match losing streak.

Batoto ba Mungu will head into the Friday kick off behind their defeat to KCB (1-0) and Bidco United (2-0).

One point ahead of Sharks, Sofapaka are 12th in the log on 18 points.

On Saturday, six matches will be on the cards while two will be staged on Sunday.

Gor Mahia will play Kenya Police at Kasarani Stadium as the Kasarani Annex hosts a double header pitting Talnata v Nzoia Sugar and City Stars taking on Ulinzi Stars.

Other matches will see Mathare United welcome fellow strugglers Wazito at Ruaraka, Bandari host Bidco United in Mombasa and Kakamega Homeboyz face Vihiga Bullets in Kakamega Derby.

On Sunday, defending champions Tusker play Posta Rangers at Kasarani Annex as second-placed KCB face AFC Leopards at MISC Kasarani.
