Stage set for Kenya Pipeline Thange races: Kenya Pipeline Thange cross country on tomorrow

Maikuu primary and secondary school grounds in Kinyambu, Makueni County, will be the battleground during the second edition of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) cross country tomorrow.

The race, which features senior and junior men and women elite events, is organised by Athletics Kenya's Southern Region branch.

“It was amazing to see the enthusiasm of athletes during last year's event. This was an indication of the potential athletes from this region have in athletics," said Athletics Kenya First Vice-President Paul Mutwii.

In order to ensure a lasting and sustainable impact of the cross country initiative, KPC will support a tree planting exercise before the races are flagged off.

According to the county's chief officer for Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Mary Mbenge, the tree planting will be a perfect way to integrate sports and environment, given their symbiotic relationship. [Standard Sports]
