The finals for the Nairobi Governor’s Cup football tournament are scheduled for this Sunday at City Stadium.

Jijazie FC from Majengo will take on True Gunners from Dagoretti in the boys' final, whose prize money is Sh1.5million.

Beijing Raiders from Mathare and Kariobangi Sports Ladies will clash in the girls' final, whose winner will go home Sh500,000 richer.

YouTube FC and Real FC will clash in the amputee football final that has attracted international players including Turkey-based Dalmas Otieno.

Nairobi County government hosted the finalists yesterday to appreciate their efforts that saw them book a berth in the final of the gruelling eight-month tournament in their various categories.

“We are glad that the tournament is coming to an end, the players not only gained experience but also exposure,” Nairobi County Youth, Sports, Social Services and ICT Executive Anne Lokidor said.

Lokidor said the players had tenacity and discipline in the course of the tournament and they were hopeful that they would be good ambassadors of the tournament aiming to create awareness on drugs and crime.

Jijazie FC captain Timothy Ngugi said they already had a business plan should they win the Sh1.5 million prize money.

“Our plan is to use that money to start small businesses within the Majengo area,” Ngugi stated.

True Gunners captain Isaac Wambugu also had similar sentiments, stating they had prepared well to win the money.
