Women Premier league: Soccer Queens leap big from Mombasa trip

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) women premier league side Soccer Queens benefited from their Coastal tour as they posted four points from the possible six.

In their match against last season’s runners up Spedag at Mombasa sports club on Saturday, Soccer Queens picked a crucial point following their two-all draw.

Ester Nadika scored a brace for Soccer Queens while Sharon Bushenei and Cheris Avilia scored one apiece for the hosts.

This was an improvement for the visitors’ side coached by Amos Kimani following their 2-0 defeat in the first leg.

In their second match of the weekend, Soccer Queens picked from where they left to post a 3-1 win over Mombasa Olympic at Mbaraki Stadium.

Winger Terry Engessa scored a brace with Sharon Adhiambo scoring her first goal for the club to make sure the club secures the maximum points.

This was a second consecutive defeat for Mombasa Olympic that joined the league this season following their 7-0 rout against the defending champions Thika Queens on Saturday.

Commenting on the performance, Kimani said the team deserved the points adding that all is not lost as they try to improve last season’s performance.

“We played two tough matches at the weekend and the girls worked very hard for the win. We now want to focus on our remaining matches of the league hoping for something positive,” he said.
