Man United defender Marcos Rojo facing £140,000 fine for failing to renew his passport

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is reportedly facing £140,000 fine after failing to renew his passport.

According to the Daily Mail, the Argentine was all set to join his teammates on the other side of the Atlantic on Saturday night, but was denied access to the flight due to passport issues.

The 25-year-old was given an extended summer break following his efforts at the Copa America, where Argentina fell at the final hurdle against Chile. Almost three weeks later, he was supposed to jet into the States to be with his Manchester United teammates.

United boss Louis van Gaal was angry at Rojo's failure to show up and has fined the defender two weeks' wages.

In his debut season with the Red Devils, Rojo scored one goal in 26 appearances.
