The Kenya Sevens squad, known as Shujaa, is set to compete in the crucial HSBC Sevens Grand Final in Madrid, Spain, from Friday, May 31 to June 2.

This tournament is a pivotal moment for the team as they aim to secure a return to the World Rugby Sevens Series main event, following their relegation last year due to a series of poor performances.

Kenya's journey back to contention has been marked by a strong showing in the 2024 World Rugby Challenger Series. The team finished second behind Uruguay after three competitive legs held in Dubai, Uruguay, and Germany, showcasing their revived drive and determination.

These players will be led by co-captains Vincent Onyala and Tony Omondi, who bring leadership and experience to the squad.

Kenya has been placed in Group B, facing formidable opponents Samoa, Spain, and Chile. The matches are must-wins for Shujaa to advance and secure their spot back in the main event of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The match schedule for Kenya is as follows (all times are East Africa Time):

Kenya vs Samoa at 6:25 PM

Kenya vs Spain at 10:18 PM

These matches will be broadcast live on RugbyPass TV, allowing fans to follow and support the team as they strive for victory in Madrid.

The Kenya Rugby Union and the entire nation are hopeful that Shujaa will perform exceptionally well, demonstrating the skill and tenacity that have become their hallmark in international rugby sevens.
