Kabras Sugar school Catholic Monks how to play rugby in Kakamega

Defending champions Kabras Sugar continued with their Kenya Cup dominance on Saturday after thrashing Catholic Monks 78-0 at the Moi Kakamega Showgrounds in Kakamega.

Kenya Sevens star Lameck Ambetsa and Kenya Simbas winger Derrick Ashiundu each bagged a brace as the sugar men solidified their top spot in the 12-team standings.

Jeanson Musoga scored the game's first try to lead 5-0 after Ntabeni Dukisa kicked wide the conversion.

Ambetsa went over the whitewash for his first try and Kabras’ second to stretch the lead to 12-0, this time albeit Dukisa’s conversion.

The former Masinde Muliro University winger returned again to the score sheet to make it 17-0. Dukisa missed the twos again.

Kabras captain Eugene Sifuna got in on the fun to take the scores to 24-0 before Shujaa scrum half Brian Tanga made it 31-0 at half time after Dukisa’s conversions.

In the final half, a penalty try gifted Kabras easy seven points to lead 38-0 before David Bunduki shot his way through the Monks defense line to score and take the lead to 45-0 after Dukisa’s conversion.

Ashiundu would then grab a quick brace for a 57-0 lead Shitambasi, Walter Okoth and William Mwanji sealed the win for Kabras.

Kabras are top of the table with 15 points and a point difference of 180 points.

KCB Rugby follow in second place with 15 points and point difference of 164 points.

Meanwhile, big scorelines were registered on Saturday as Kenya Cup breaks for Christmas festive holidays.

After a 78-0 Kabras win was posted in Kakamega, KCB followed suit to hammer Homeboyz 77-10.

Kenya Harlequin edged out Mwamba 40-10, as Menengai Oilers saw off Strathmore Leos 27-10 in Nakuru.

Nondescripts on the other hand picked their first win of the season in a 32-16 win over Kisumu RFC as Blak Blad held Nakuru to a 19-19 draw.

Kenya Cup will resume next year on January 13.
