KCB Rugby Club welcomed Nondescripts back to the Kenya Cup in style after demolishing the KRU Championship champions 45-8 at KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka on Saturday.

Nondies, the most successful Kenya Cup side with 17 titles, were promoted back to the top tier league after playing last season in the Championship. On the other hand, KCB lost to archrivals Kabras in the Kenya Cup final in Kakamega.

Bob Muhati, Griffins Musila, Michael Kimwele, Felix Ojoo and Lionel Ajeliti all crossed over the white wash as the bankers kick-started the 2023-2024 season on the front foot.

Despite the win, KCB coach Curtis Olago was not impressed with his charges as he called for improvement.

Olago who is also the Kenya U20 coach said the bankers have to get their systems right, and raise the tempo of the game especially while playing at home.

“I am not impressed. Our game tempo was so low. The systems were not working for us despite the win. But there is room for improvement

“It is still early in the season, we have a lot of time to build up our systems and style of play and I believe we will get there a game at a time,” said Olago.
