National sevens team, Shujaa, that will take part in the Africa Rugby Sevens in Zimbabwe will be named after the Kabeberi Sevens in Nairobi on Saturday.

Shujaa Strength and Conditioning coach Andrew Amonde said only 13 players out of the current 18 will take part in the continental event set for Harare September 16-17.

Kenya are in group B together with Zambia, Namibia and Nigeria.

Group A has South Africa, Madagascar, Tunisia and Ivory Coast while group C comprises Uganda, hosts Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Algeria.

The tournament also doubles up as the African Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Amonde said players were in high spirits as they continued with their training programme.

“Morale in camp is always good as we proceed on with our training sessions but it’s also good to note that the final squad will be made known by Kenya Rugby Union after the Kabeberi Sevens,” said Amonde.

"The team has difficulties in having full house training sessions because clubs were not willing to release players for the national team training sessions due to their involvement in the National Sevens Circuit."

After the Kabeberi Sevens, which is the final leg of the series, the technical bench will have a two-day training session in Nairobi
