Kenya Sevens qualified for the Quarterfinals of the Edmonton 7s after defeating Spain and Chile respectively in their opening two Pool B matches in Canada.

Mark Kwemoi bagged a brace as Shujaa defeated Spain 26-12 in their second pool match to seal the quarter's spot.

In the opening match, Willy Ambaka also scored a brace to inspire Shujaa to a 38-5 win over Chile to kicked off the Edmonton 7s on a high note in a Pool B match played at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday.

Kenya landed six tries, three in each half as the East African giants picked three points.

Kenya Sevens captain Nelson Oyoo got Shujaa on the front foot after speeding off Alvin Otieno's inside feed to land the opening try that was converted for a 7-0 lead.

Moments later, Ambaka punished the South Americans after pouncing on a loose ball to score an unconverted try as Kenya lead 12-0.

Ambaka completed his brave in the dying minutes of the opening half as Kenya took a comfortable 19-0 lead at the breather after Mark Kwemoi’s conversion.

In the final half, Chile scored at the right corner before Kwemoi scored to stretch Kenya's lead to 24-5.

Alvin Marube joined the scoresheet minutes later after diving over the whitewash for a 31-5 lead.

MMUST Rugby's Timothy Mmasi sealed the win with a late try as Kenya bagged their first win at Edmonton 7s.

Shujaa will play USA in their final match.
