Nurses not to blame for babies deaths - Baringo Governor

Governor Stanley Kiptis has denied reports that the deaths of four babies at Kabarnet Hospital were a result of negligence by nurses.

Kiptis said the newborns died between March 6 and 7, but it was not the fault of the health workers at the facility. He also clarified that the babies were four and not seven.

“There were no deaths at the hospital owing to negligence as reported in a section of the media. The hospital recorded four deaths and not seven," he said when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Health via a video link.

Since January, the hospital has recorded 358 births, said the governor. He said the hospital has four functional resuscitators.
