Kenyans who have travelled upcountry for Easter holidays and those in the city have been assured of enough security during the long holiday.

Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo said that proper deployment of police officers was done ahead of the holidays so as to allow Kenyans to mark the holiday in peace.

“It is a long weekend not only to mark the Easter holiday but also the country is hosting the World Rally Championships in Naivasha; in terms of security our officers are up to the task to ensure that all goes well,” PS Omollo stated.

“Notably, we have had smooth holidays including Christmas season that was marked without any incidences and we expect the same now since our officers are on the ground,” he assured.

In relation to the World Rally Championships (WRC) in Naivasha, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner (RC) Abdi Hassan said the government has put in place all the necessary measures to avoid any incidents.

Speaking on Thursday Hassan said his security team has operationalised a security plan that will ensure that no ugly incidents are reported during event.

At the same time, Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has issued alternative routes for motorists traveling from Nairobi to the Western part of the country.

This in a bid to avoid inconveniences brought about by traffic snarl-ups experienced on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in previous events.

One of the options given was Nairobi through Rironi – Naivasha – Engineer through Olkalau – Oljororok and also terminate at Lanet in Nakuru.
