Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, July 21, 2023, vowed to fight for his family against attacks from the Kenya Kwanza government.

This is after dozens of police officers raided the residence of his eldest son, Jomo Kenyatta in Karen, Nairobi for unknown reasons.

“When I was the President, I defended my country. I'm a retired man, I am protecting my family,” said Kenyatta.

In a live address from his son's home, Uhuru condemned attacks on his family telling President William Ruto to come for him instead of going after his children, mother and family at large.

"The fact that I have been silent does not mean I am scared. Come For me if it is me that you want," Uhuru told Ruto.

He said the government was intimidating his family for no apparent reason saying that President Ruto should face him instead.

According to him, the recent withdrawal of his mother, Mamas Ngina’s security and the raid on his son's home goes on to show the extent the government has gone with its intimidation tactics.

“What has my mother got to do with it? What do my children have to do with it?” posed Kenyatta.

At the same time, Kenyatta refuted claims that he was behind the recent demonstrations by the Azimo la Umoja coalition led by Raila Odinga.

“Have you seen me at these events? Have you seen me speaking about these events?” he asked.

This comes after President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua together with other politicians from Kenya Kwanza accused Kenyatta of sponsoring the Azimio protests.

When asked for details of the people who came to raid his family’s home Kenyatta said that they were in a Sudanese vehicle and that they told Jomo they had come to carry out a search.

According to Kenyatta, when his son informed him of the events he asked him not to let them in until he arrives at the home.
