The majority of Kenyans believe that President William Ruto has failed in fulfilling his campaign promises.

A report released on Thursday, July 13 by TIFA, indicates that President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration have gotten below-average performance of 30.8 percent.

The data showing responses based on political alignment indicates that 43.6 percent of government supporters think that the government has fulfilled campaign promises supported by 18.4 percent of respondents affiliated with the opposition.

“Kenyans believe that the achievements by the Kenya Kwanza Government have reduced between March and June, with over half of Kenyans saying the government has achieved nothing,” the report read in part.

A larger percentage (52 percent) of the respondents believe that the government has failed, attributing it to the high cost of living in the country.

“There has been an increase in the mentions of hard economic hardships between March and June 2023,” the TIFA report stated.

Failed campaign promises, increased taxation, and corruption were also mentioned as some factors that contributed to the failure.

However, Kenyans believe that the government has made an achievement by launching a hustler fund(10 percent), reducing fertilizer costs(6 percent) and taxation policies, and debt repayment(4 percent).

Similarly, respondents believe that the government’s achievements have reduced between March and June, with over half of Kenyans saying that it has achieved nothing.

The survey was conducted from June 24 to 30 across 9 regions including Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western Kenya.

It was conducted on 1,530 respondents in a telephonic interview.
