KCB seek redemption against Mean Machine in Kenya Cup

Former champions KCB Rugby will be looking to bounce back from last week's disappointment as they face University of Nairobi's Mean Machine in the Kenya Cup final match of the regular season on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the match, KCB assistant coach Dennis Mwanja noted that the boys are psyched to finish the season on a high note as they aim to reclaim the Kenya Cup title, which they last won during the 2020-2021 season.

KCB lost 29-23 to defending champions Kabras Sugar last week as they dropped second in the standings.

"We did not have the weekend we expected but such is the nature of the game. I have confidence in my boys, and I believe they're going to bounce back as we continue with the title challenge," said Mwanja.

The bankers have only lost once in this campaign, winning 9 out of 10 matches played, accumulating 46 points in the course. They are two points behind league leaders Kabras.

"Looking back, we are proud of our run this season. We have faced tough opponents who made us hustle for the win, but we always carried the day. The last match was the ultimate challenge and a lesson for all of us. That aside, we are hoping to get back to our best and bring the trophy back to the den," Mwanja added.

KCB have already qualified for the semifinal playoffs.
