32 people die, 1,216 people test positive for Covid-19

A total of 1,286 people have tested positive for the coronavirus, from a 8,310 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) in a statement Saturday said Kenya’s positivity rate is now 15.5 per cent.

The country now has 228,363 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 2,305,988 cumulative tests conducted since the onset of the disease in March last year.

Some 1,942 patients have also recovered from the disease, “with 1,766 being from the Home Based Isolation and Care program while one hundred and seventy-six are from various health facilities countrywide,” the CS said.

Total recoveries now stand at 211, 781.

Another thirty-two patients have succumbed to the coronavirus, all being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in April, July and August.

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll is now 4,467.

“2,060 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 8,769 are under the Home-based isolation and care program. One hundred and fifty-seven are in the ICU, eighty of whom are on ventilatory support and seventy-seven on supplemental oxygen,” Kagwe added.

On vaccination, some 67,749 first doses and 4,144 second doses were administered yesterday.

So far, only 2.9 per cent of the adult population is fully inoculated.
