Top lady golfers stamped their authority as they swept most of Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) chairman (Rosemary Olonde) prizes at Vet Lab course over the weekend.

Ashley Awuor playing off handicap 8, emerged the overall gross prize winner with 77 gross.

In Division A of Muthoni Muthiga Bowl, handicap 7, Agnes Nyakio carded 78 gross to win in the highly competitive division.

Kiambu Golf Club's Joyce Wanjiru was gross second prize winner with 79 gross while another top amateur lady golfer, Nancy Nyanchama playing off handicap 3, came in third with 80 gross.

Winning the Lucie Maina trophy on 84 gross was Doris Mideva playing off handicap 18.

Keziah Korir playing off handicap 21 was second with 92 gross. The Watling Salver prize was won by handicap 22, Elizabeth Ngethe with 95 gross as Margaret Wairimu settled for third place with 96 gross.

Mideva made a double after claiming nett winner prize with 68nett. Maryam Mwakita won nett winner second prize upon returning 70 nett. As handicap 15, Frankie Gichuru came in third on a score of 71 nett.

In Division B, Milcah Kamere playing off handicap 30 was nett winner on 67 nett. Diana O'Connor Trophy second winner prize went to a Joyce Weche playing off handicap 31 after posting 61 nett with Millicent Mello bagging nett winner third prize on a score of 71.

Best KLGU Chairman prize was won by Lucie Maina playing off handicap 18 with 91 Gross. Junior golfer Imani Njoki won the Dorcas Mbalanya trophy on a score of 104 Gross playing off handicap 30.

Leading the guest was Willy Mastamet playing off handicap 9, on a score of 40 stableford points.

Handicap 26, Patrick Kae, was guest winner second on a score of 39 stableford points with Ken Monari coming in third on a score of 38 stableford points.

Earlier on Friday, Florence Oloo won the Phyllis Kimbo Trophy on a score of 40 stableford points in the curtain raiser event. KLGU annual general meeting was held with outgoing chairman Rosemary Olonde handing over to Lydia Obonyo of Kenya Railway Golf Club who pledged to carry-on from where her predecessor left.

"As I assume office, I together with the council will execute that which needs to be done as per the union's strategic plan and ensure that we grow the game of golf both administratively and competitively," Obonyo said.

Meanwhile, home club's Henry Kamau earned an early valentine's gift after roasting colleagues at the par 71 Mombasa golf course on Saturday.

The zero handicap golfer returned a compact 78 nett and 78 gross to emerge the Division A winner and overall gross winner in the February 2023 Mug golf tournament that attracted 156 golfers. Kamau's victory that earned him the lead mug and a valentine's gift came after sinking three rare birdies at the par 3-third hole, the par 4-fourth hole and the par 3 12th hole with eight level pars over a mixed bogey shot in the rest of the both nines.

"This has been my best day, driving my shots right to the fairways and putting well in the greens. I am extremely humbled and hope to play better in the coming events before turning professional hopefully before the end of the year," Kamau said.

Ken Mwangi won the B Division prize.
