Shabana sip Tusker to pick first win of the season

Newbies Shabana on Friday registered their first win of the 2023-2024 FKF Premier League season after narrowly edging out Tusker in a fully-packed match at Kasarani Stadium.

Nyabuto headed home the winner for Shabana who had not won any of their opening five matches building up to the match up with Tusker.

The Kisii County club began the season on the back foot after losing their opening match of the campaign 1-0 to Muranga'a SEAL before picking two consecutive 1-1 draws with FC Talanta and Kenya Police.

They would lose their second match of the season 1-0 to Kariobangi Sharks before drawing their third match of the season 1-1 against AFC Leopards.

The two defeats and three draws left them deep in the relegation zone with three points, a result the millions of fans were starting to question.

However, the players gave the fans something to talk about all weak after bringing down one of the title contenders.

The win moved Shabana out of the relegation zone as the sit joint 11th with six points same as Bidco United, Muhoroni Youth and Kenya Police, all who have a game in hand.

Speaking after the match, Shabana coach Sammy Okoth lauded his players for playing out their hearts despite the tough start to the campaign.

Okoth promised more to come for the fans after the international break.
