SCHOOLS: Omalla strikes as Agoro Sare kneels to Kisumu Day in Siaya

Duncan Omalla’s first half strike was enough to silence doubters as Kisumu Day narrowly saw off Homa Bay champions Agoro Sare 1-0 at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Univesirty of Science and Technology (JOUST) ON Saturday in Bondo, Siaya County.

The win not only saw Kisumu Day kick off their Nyanza Region Secondary School football title defense on a high note but also top their Group A with three points.

This is after Siaya County representatives St Mary’s School Yala were held to a 1-1 draw by Masara.

These results mean Kisumu Day sit top with three points followed by Masara and Yala who both have one point each. Agoro Srae are bottom without a point.

In Group B, Siaya champions Usenge announced their arrival at the regionals by also edging out Matutu 1-0.

Kisumu County runners up Onjiko High School made sure they keep track of the Breezers from Usenge after also edging out Ndonyo 1-0.

Usenge and Onjiko sit top with three points each followed by Matutu and Ndonyo who are yet to pick a point.

In football girls, former champions Nyakach Girls narrowly saw off Lwak Girls from Siaya 1-0 as defending champions Kobala also defeated Kerongori 1-0.

Jera picked the biggest win yet so far after thumping Gekomoni 6-1 in a seven-goal thriller match.
