FKF- Premier League champion Oruchum ditches Tusker for Tanzania Premier League

Football Kenya Federation Premier League champion Christopher Oruchum has joined Tanzanian Premier League side Namungo from Tusker.

The 25-year-old center back left the 13-time Premier League champions after staying for two-years.

He has signed a two-year contract with Namungo who finished fifth in the Tanzanian league last season on 41 points, 33 points behind champions Yanga. 

Oruchum joined the Robert Matano-tutored side in September 2020 after a successful stint with traditional giants AFC Leopards.

He leaves the brewers after landmark back-to-back titles during the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons

He featured for the brewers in 31 matches, partnering first with Eugene Asike and later with Charles Momanyi to constitute the very heart of the watertight defence that maintained 19 clean sheets in the just concluded season.

“Tusker FC defender Christopher Oruchum has left the club upon the expiry of his contract and will be off to seek greener pastures. The defender arrived at Tusker at the beginning of the 2020-21 season and has successfully won back-to-back titles,” said Tusker in a statement.

The defender said he was proud donning the yellow and black colours that he had grown up admiring since his childhood.

“Tusker is a big team and chances are one is likely to be exposed to various teams outside the country if you feature for the club.”

“I want to thank the Tusker family in a big way; from the management, my fellow players, technical bench members and the fans for their support for the two seasons I turned out for the club,” Oruchum said.

“I have won the league back to back, which is amazing for any player. With two League titles, One Charity Cup Trophy and three medals on, I can say I have had the best time at Tusker FC. I am off to a new challenge but I will leave with my head held high as a proud alumnus of this great club.”

Oruchum previously played for the now defunct Thika United.
