Defending champions Tusker registered their second win of the new campaign after edging Kenya Police 2-1 in a midweek rescheduled FKF Premier League match played at Kasarani on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Joshua and Shami Kibwana scored as the brewers completed a first half comeback win over the newbies to bag their second consecutive win.

The champions had a very poor start to the 2021-2022 season despite breaking the bank to sign 10-new players.

The brewers got off to a terrible start with 1-0 and 2-1 defeats to AFC Leopards and newbies Talanta.

The Robert Matano led side however bounced back from the dead with a 2-0 victory over Wazito last Saturday before defeating Police.

The win moves Tusker to 10th in the log with six points but with a game in hand.

In the match, Police took the lead in the opening minute after new signing Clifton Miheso’s great delivery from the corner found Samuel Ndungu unmarked in the area with the latter slotting home to give the service men an early 1-0 lead.

However, the lead lasted four minutes as Tanzanian import Ibrahim Joshua leveled the scores in the fifth minute with a neat finish inside the box.

Five minutes to the break, another signing in Shami Kibwana sealed all three points by giving Tusker the lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot after Boniafe Muchiri had been brought down in the opposition box.

The second half proved to be a fruitless affair as Police registered their fourth defeat of the season.

The newbies have won only one game in the top flight league.

Despite roping in big names, the losses leaves them placed 14th on the log ahead of their next game against Gor Mahia.
