Peter Opiyo scored at the death as Nairobi City Stars came from behind to defeat Western Stima 2-1 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) mid-week match played at Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi on Tuesday.

Man of the Match Opiyo converted a 90th-minute penalty to earn City Stars all three points.

Rodgers Ouma had given the Kisumu based club a narrow 1-0 halftime lead after netting in the 39th minute, converting Baron Oketch’s cross from the left-wing.

Playing for over 80 minutes without a goal, Erick Ombija would then level the scores for City Stars in the 84th minute before Opiyo sealing the comeback win with a late penalty, sending Stima shot-stopper Stephen Otieno the wrong way.

The win, City Stars second against Stima since 2008, saw Simba wa Nairobi move joint seventh in the log with 26 points same as Kakamega Homeboyz who have a game in hand.

Western Stima now remains 15th on 13 points, a point above the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, three more matches are currently going on with Tusker, who were knocked out by AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup quarterfinal stage, playing Posta Rangers at Ruaraka grounds.

In Bungoma, Nzoia Sugar is playing Vihiga United as Bandari entertain Ulinzi Stars in Mombasa.
