Plans are underway for Kenya National Football Coaches Association (Kenfoca) to roll out a Funeral Expense Insurance Cover for its members, the association’s chairman Robert Matano has said.

According to the Tusker coach, the policy will only cover funeral expenses of their members.

The initiative comes at a time when the association has already started issuing cards to its 483 registered members across the country.

Kenfoca was formed last year drifting away from the original coaches’ body the Kenya Football Coaches Association (Kefoca) which was established in 1972.

But the idea of forming Kenfoca, whose members are drawn from the FKF Premier League (FKF PL), National Super League (NSL) and other lower tier leagues, was developed from a fundraising group for the funeral expenses of the late coach Henry Omino.

The former Western Stima coach succumbed to thyroid cancer on March 20 2020.

“We have been struggling to raise funds for our members when they die. But that will soon be a story of the past as Kenfoca has engaged CIC Insurance with an aim of rolling out a Funeral Expense Cover,” said Matano.

“After this, we will embark on a Medical Cover for all members.”
