Ruben Loftus-Cheek will sign a new long term deal at Chelsea.
The England international has ended speculation about his future after agreeing a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge earlier this week.
Loftus-Cheek, 23, is currently recovering from a ruptured achilles that ruled him out of the Europa League final.
Talks have been ongoing with the player representatives for months to extend his stay beyond 2021.
But the midfielder still needed convincing his future was in west London.
The new deal, Mirror Football understands, was agreed with club chief Marina Granovskaia on the back of string of impressive performances in the last few months of the season.
Frank Lampard, announced as the new Chelsea boss on Thursday morning was not part the discussions and has not spoken to the England man about where he fits into his plans come August.
After enhancing his reputation at last summer’s World Cup after an excellent season on loan at Crystal Palace, the midfielder became frustrated with life under ex-boss Maurizio Sarri.
Loftus-Cheek was angry loan moves to Monaco and Schalke were blocked last year. Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth wanted him in January, but their advances were rejected.
But after forcing his way in the Sarri’s plans, Loftus-Cheek went on to make 42 appearances, but significantly, he started eight of the final 15 games of the campaign before it was cut short with injury.
Chelsea are also hoping to agree a new deal with Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The winger who is out of contract next summer is recovering from his own achilles injury.
Hudson-Odoi was the subject of another bid from Bayern Munich last week after three were rejected in January and will need to be convinced he has a future at the club under new boss Lampard.
