Mesut Ozil appeared to hand his shirt over to Leroy Sane at half-time of Arsenal's defeat to Manchester City.

Ozil and Sane were both unused substitutes on Sunday as Arsenal were beaten 3-1 at the Etihad by the Premier League champions.

The pair had been international teammates before Ozil announced his retirement following Germany's disastrous World Cup performance.

Manchester City's tunnel cam picked up the pair as they made their way to the dressing room at half-time.

Ozil and Sane were in discussions as they walked through the tunnel at the Etihad, with the former carrying his Arsenal shirt

The camera cuts off as the pair make their way up the stairs before Sane is handed a parting gift.

Ozil would end up not needing the shirt as Unai Emery decided against bringing him on.

But the act is likely to anger Arsenal fans with the German in contention to come on until late in the match.

Ozil's future at the Emirates remains the source of much speculation under Unai Emery.

He had been left out in recent weeks but returned to captain the side for the midweek win over Cardiff.

Arsenal could well consider offers for the German this summer with Ozil pocketing over £300,000-a-week.
