Tusker’s title credentials will be tested today when they host league champions Gor Mahia at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The brewers have had one of their best starts to the season in recent times and are at the top of the log on goal difference.

However, they have not faced a side of Gor Mahia’s calibre and perhaps it will only be after today that it can be known what the brewers are made of and whether they can go all the way to lift the title.

Even that Gor Mahia have been a pale shadow of themselves since the season started even though the arrival of Brazilian coach Ze Maria seemed to have steadied the champion’s ship.

Ze Maria has admitted it will be tough taking on Tusker and hopes to have all his best players ready.

“This is an important match for us when you consider that Tusker are at the top of the log. It is one we want to desperately win,” he said.

Marcelo has confirmed that Rwandan forward Jacques Tuyisenge will be back for this match after missing out last weekend’s barren draw against Ushuru.

“He has recovered and we expect him to play against Tusker. Tuyisenge has been very impressive and as a coach, I appreciate his fighting spirit,” Ze Maria said.

Gor Mahia will, however, be without the dependable Godfrey Walusimbi who is out with a bout of malaria.

Tusker captain James Situma has admitted that playing Gor Mahia today will be one of their most challenging assignments, but they are focused on getting all the three points.

“We are having a great season and that is a good thing for us yet playing Gor Mahia has never been easy for anyone and we expect it to be tough as well for us,” he said.

In another match, new comers Posta Rangers travel to Mombasa today to take on Bandari.

Speaking ahead of the fixture Rangers coach Zedekiah Otieno expressed confidence his side can pick all three points at stake.

“During my coaching career, I have always had an edge over Mombasa-based teams and I am therefore confident as we face Bandari,” said Otieno who has previously handled Gor Mahia and Sony Sugar.

Rangers will be inspired by the 1-0 win registered over Ulinzi Stars last Sunday. Bandari on the other hand are yet to show their true potential despite big name signings.
