Football: Waruru, Ndetto and Shitote excluded from Ulinzi squad

Ulinzi Stars will have to do without three of their key players for the better part of the 2015 season for various reasons ranging from military duties to injuries.

2011 Kenyan Premier League golden boot winner Stephen Waruru will be out of action for the entire season after being redeployed to military duties in Sudan. Veteran defender Mulinge Ndetto is on a study leave, while fullback Cylus Shitote remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Explaining the reasons for the trio exclusion from the recently named 30-man squad for the upcoming campaign, Ulinzi team manager Chris Ouma said they’ve already found perfect replacements for the unavailable players.

“Waruru will be leaving in March for military duties in Sudan, while Ndetto is on a study leave. He will not be with the team for the better part of the first leg. Shitote is still on recovery path and we are not sure when he will be back in action,” Ouma told Game Yetu.

“They are our dependable players and we will definitely miss them, but the good thing is that we’ve got their perfect replacements.”

The official also gave an injury update on the Mohammed Hassan saying the centre half is making promising progress in his rehabilitation from his knee injury he suffered during their Coastal preseason tour.

“The injury is not that way serious as many people think. He’s responding well to medication and we are confident he will be available for the season opener,” revealed Ouma.
