The curtain comes down on Round 36 of the English Premier League tonight as Leicester City, fighting for their lives, host Liverpool, with European places up for grabs.

Dean Smith's side are in desperate need of a win after their 5-3 thrashing at the hands of Fulham on Bank Holiday Monday. They have scored in nine of their last 10 top-flight fixtures and eight times in their last four, but their leaky defense has let them down all season. They remain without a Premier League clean sheet since the World Cup break and have conceded at least once in 20 consecutive games. Leicester have also lost all of their home clashes with teams in the top four this season.

Liverpool is battling hard to secure a spot in the top four status, currently sitting in fifth place with 62 points, just four points behind Manchester United. After securing a 1-0 victory against Brentford in their last game, Jurgen Klopp's men are determined to continue their pursuit of Champions League football. However, their recent track record at the King Power Stadium hasn't been in their favor, as they suffered a two-goal defeat on each of their last two visits.

Despite this, the Reds have triumphed in their last six league games, with the previous five ending in narrow single-goal margins. The formidable Mohamed Salah is on the brink of making Liverpool history by becoming the first player to score more than 20 league goals in three consecutive seasons.

Interestingly, there have only been five occasions in English top-flight history where a team has won six straight matches by a one-goal margin, the last of which occurred way back in 2002.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Leicester City while Liverpool's Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita will not recover from their muscular problems in time for tonight's match.

Key pointers:

  • The last 5 Liverpool matches have seen them win by a 1-goal margin
  • Leicester have scored in nine of their last 10 top-flight fixtures
  • Leicester have lost all of their home games with the top 4 this season
  • Both teams have scored in nine of their last 10 league games where Leicester is involved

Leicester City possible Starting XI: Iversen; Faes, Evans, Soyuncu, Castagne, Ndidi, Soumare, Perrreira, Maddison, Vardy, Barnes.

Liverpool possible Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson Jones, Fabinho, Salah, Gakpo, Jota.

STANDARD TIPSTAR PREDICTION: Leicester City 1-2 Liverpool

Although Liverpool has struggled in their last two visits to the King Power Stadium, their current form suggests a different outcome this time around. The Reds are in top form and seem more determined than ever to close the gap in the race for Champions League qualification. However, Leicester is no stranger to attacking teams on their home turf and has scored in nine of their last ten matches. A GOAL -GOAL goal-fest between these two sides seems highly likely. Given the high stakes of the match, an AWAY WIN for Liverpool seems the most likely outcome.
