Pastor Kanyari asks King Roso for lions on TikTok

Pastor Kanyari

Controversial Kenyan preacher Pastor Kanyari is on TikTok and has hit the ground running.

Unbothered by the backlash he faced, Kanyari went live on the platform and asked King Roso, a monied TikToker, to gift him lions.

Rubbishing talk that Roso is a member of the Illuminati, the preacher asked for five lions saying he is not afraid of the consequences, if any.

“Someone said King Roso gives out lions, and he is in the Illuminati. King Roso, send me that Sh50,000 in the form of a lion, in fact, send me four lions.

“People claim that you are at risk of dying when King Roso sends you lions. I want five lions and if possible add five more. If I have to die, let me die. I do not owe anybody,” he said.

If you are a frequent TikTok user, you must have seen virtual gifts floating on your screen during live sessions.

TikTok has a feature which allows users to send gifts to their favourite creators and they have monetary value.

It is, however, important to note that you need actual money to purchase virtual coins, which will in turn be used to buy the ‘gifts’.

There are about 100 TikTok gifts available, with prices ranging from as low as $0.012 (or 5 virtual TikTok coins) to as high as $500 (or 35,000 TikTok coins).

The ‘Leon and Lion’ are among the most expensive gifts and are worth around $452 (Sh58,760).

Opting for a TikTok Universe as a means to appreciate a beloved content creator is a fantastic choice, yet the decision to invest money ultimately lies with the users.

TikTok creators can exchange their gifts for virtual diamonds, which can later be converted into real money.

Diamonds serve as TikTok's currency, valued at half the rate of coins due to TikTok taking a 50 per cent commission. In essence, two coins equate to one diamond.

Thus, if a gift is priced at 10,000 coins, the content creator will receive 5,000 coins, amounting to $75 after TikTok’s commission is deducted.
